Robert C. Riendeau, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, in Columbia, S.C. He was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Pawtucket, R.I., the second son of George and Beatrice Riendeau.
He was a retired MSG of the U.S. Air Force, having served over 20 years with the Strategic Air Command. He earned numerous medals during his military career, including the Air Force Commendation. Upon his retirement from the military, he began his second career with the Providence College Friar Hockey Association, where he remained until his retirement.
After his retirement, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and foreign countries before settling in Lehigh Acres. He had only recently relocated to Columbia, S.C.
He is survived by his brother George, of Pawtucket, R.I.; sister-in-law, Arlene, wife of his late brother, Joseph M. Riendeau; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shirley Sawyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was held at a local church. A special memorial will be held at Providence, R.I., the date of which will be announced later. Burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C.
