Cape Christian Fellowship to announce community projects

By Staff | Jan 5, 2013

On Sunday, Cape Christian Fellowship will report on the total donations collected during the holidays and what projects the money will help fund.

Throughout December, the church asked that its congregation give their “biggest Christmas gift to God.” The message was passed along in printed programs, announced during services, e-mailed and even mailed to homes.

“This Sunday, the church will announce to the community the results of that offering and the specific projects in Cape Coral that the money will be used to pay for,” Chad Woolf, a spokesman for the church, said Friday via e-mail.

Though officials declined to release details ahead of the service, they noted that the funds would help finish Fellowship Park, expand mentoring programs in Lee County schools and launch a new “health care program” for the city.

Last year, the church broke ground on phase one of Fellowship Park – a 100,000-square-foot park, which was expected to house playgrounds, multi-purpose and sports fields, parking, a pavilion, a cafe and an amphitheater.

“Funds from the Christmas offering will immediately be used to impact residents in Cape Coral in the first half of 2013,” Woolf said.

It reportedly represents the largest one-time donation to the city.

The details will be announced at the 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. worship services. People can also tune in live online at 10:30 a.m. for the announcement at: www.capechristian.tv – it will replay online at 6 p.m.

“Cape Christian’s focus on needs outside the church is a constant message to its congregants,” Woolf said.

This emphasis has led to the printing and distributing of 12,000 Resource Guides in partnership with the Cape Coral Community Foundation.

“The church also serves three Cape Coral schools with over 50 mentors, monthly character assemblies called ‘Kidz Jam’ and has donated over $100,000 in food, school supplies, and practical assistance to families at these schools since 2009,” he said.

Woolf added that the church plans to start a work force empowerment ministry to help people get back to work and is expanding its partnership with the Lee County School District by recruiting hundreds of new mentors.

This year, the church is helping to raise 600,000 pounds of food for the Community Cooperative Ministries through its “Not In My City Campaign.”

Cape Christian Fellowship is at 2110 Chiquita Blvd. S.
