It was all about the martini Saturday night in downtown Cape Coral.
The seventh annual Kiwanis Best South Cape Martini Competition featured concoctions from 10 local venues in the categories of classic, exotic and dessert. Paired with appetizers, the drinks were judged by attendees.
Cruiser's won Best Classic Martini with the Cape Cole-Tini, while Dixie Roadhouse was awarded Best Exotic Martini for the Dirty Cowgirl.
Chicago Pizza took home Best Dessert Martini with its Oreo Martini.
The Cape Cole-Tini was created in the memory of Ted Cole, a regular customer at Cruiser's and a Cape Kiwanian who passed away last year.
"A lot of our customers knew him and everyone at the Kiwanis," lounge manager Denise Wood said. "It'll be a nice thing to remember him by."
"I think it meant a lot," she said of the win.
A participant in the competition all seven years, it is the second time that Cruiser's won the classic category. It took home the title the first year.
Wood said the Cape Cole-Tini is made with Kettle One vodka.
"We used fine quality vodka," she said. "Slightly dirty, with a few drops of 'Ted's spirit.'"
