After nearly six months of running from the law, one of Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted fugitives now finds himself behind bars. Tyrone Campbell, 42, was apprehended by the Lee County Sheriff's Office shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 on Venice Avenue in Lehigh.
Campbell is a convicted sex offender who had been dodging charges of failing to appear in court and failure to register as a sex offender, according to Trish Routte, who heads Crime Stoppers of Southwest Florida.
She said this Fort Myers native has been arrested 11 times before in Lee County, with a criminal record dating back to 1988. Among the charges on his rap sheet are two counts of lewd and lascivious assault on a child, battery, multiple counts of aggravated assault, parole violations and numerous drug related infractions.
In 1993, he was convicted as a sex offender, and in total, he's served five stints in state prison for a combined term of roughly 11 years which is in addition to his Lee County jail time, Route said. Campbell has also been arrested several times in Collier County over the years, for grand theft auto, burglary and grand theft.
When deputies served a search warrant on the home in Lehigh last week, Campbell initially didn't appear to be there; however, he was found shortly afterwards hiding in the home's attic, Routte said. Campbell was arrested on the two charges and is now being held without bond in the Lee County Jail.
Campbell's arrest now affords a new addition to Crime Stoppers Most Wanted list.
His spot will be filled by Danny Francisque, 22, who is wanted for aggravated battery with a firearm and shooting at or into an occupied vehicle.
Detectives say that on July 3, Francisque a known drug dealer in Pine Manor, is accused of shooting a man during a multi-person altercation over a female. Routte said Francisque is a familiar face to law enforcement, with felony arrests dating back to age 17, when he was jailed for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and, then a second time on Christmas Eve for carrying a concealed weapon.
As an adult, he's been arrested twice for larceny theft and burglary. Francisque is likely hiding out either in the Pine Manor or central Fort Myers area. He is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing 180 pounds and is known on the streets as "Danny Boy."
He also has a tattoo of the 239 area code on his left arm, Routte said. Upon his arrest, Francisque will be held without bond.
Anyone with information on the location of Danny Franciscque is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
