Academy hosts annual History Day event

Classical Christian Academy hosted its annual History Day event on Feb. 8. This year's theme was colonial times, and students, parents and faculty came dressed in costumes from the era.

Each year, the academy hosts a history fair from a different time period, allowing students to get a first-hand "feel" for that specific place in time and having fun while experiencing a piece of history.

Among the activities were an array of colonial games and booths, each with their own unique flair to depict the essence of the era. Lunch was held in the "Prancing Pony Inn," with delicious feasts prepared recreating the food that was served during the time period.

Parent and family involvement is critical to the academy. As such, parents and teachers recreated a church, school, farm, home, store and cider mill from the era.

Leading up to the event, students were involved with various projects, writing assignments and speeches to further enhance their understanding of the time period.
