Three arrested in Lehigh drive-by shooting

By Staff | Feb 27, 2013

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men believed to be involved in a drive-by shooting in Lehigh Acres that sent a man to the hospital on Feb. 18.

Angel Luis Salome, 18, Robert Lopez, 21, and Dany Borges-Matos, 19, are charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

Salome is also charged with possession of a bulletproof vest during an offense, and Borges-Matos is charged with marijuana possession and resisting an officer without violence.

At about 12:09 a.m., deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Roma Avenue South and came into contact with Emanuel Madrigal, 20, who had been shot in the leg, according to a report.

He told investigators that he was at a house party and was standing outside when a white four-door vehicle drove up, and someone began shooting from the vehicle. Madrigal was hit in the leg.

He was taken Lehigh Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Madrigal told investigators that he recognized the vehicle as one used by Salome.

Deputies located a Hyundai Sonata that matched the description of the vehicle believed to be involved in the drive-by and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Sentinella and Bell boulevards.

Deputies found firearms, ammunition and a ballistics vest in the vehicle and took the three occupants – Salome, Lopez and Borges-Matos – into custody.
