March 5, 2013
Lehigh Acres Citizen

Services honoring the life of Bob Hensley will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Friends will be received from 6 - 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 2 - 3 p.m. prior to services on Wednesday.

Robert "Bob" Hensley, CEO Grosse Pointe Development, died Friday, March 1.

He had a vision for Cape Coral that he brought to life in 2001 when he bought the 150-acre tract in Southwest Cape Coral and called it Tarpon Point Marina. His vision was to make Tarpon Point Marina and Cape Coral a waterfront destination, which he did in a big way when he brought in International Offshore Powerboat races to Cape Coral, according to a statement issued by the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association.

He always saw Cape Coral as a place to be proud of. He forever changed the skyline of Cape Coral and his vision helped people, all over the world, see Cape Coral as a city on the move. Even through the downturn in the economy, his vision weathered the storm just recently catching the attention of the internationally known hotel, The Westin.

"Bob always felt Cape Coral was up to the challenge of being someplace special because he saw us that way," those who knew him said.

He also was known by many to be a generous philanthropist giving support to such causes as Relay for Life. He will be missed by all those who knew him and will always be remembered as a good man, with a good and generous heart who had great dreams for Cape Coral.
