Update:

A body found floating under a dock near Sea Holly Lane on Pine Island has been positively identified as a missing St. Jame James City man. No foul play is suspected and the District 21 Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death, officials said late Sunday.

Original report:

A body found floating under a dock near Sea Holly Lane on Pine Island is believed to be that of a 70-year old St. James City man reported missing shortly after midnight Sunday morning. A death investigation is underway.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the missing man, Geroge William McAfee, at 12:08 a.m. . They responded to 2937 Bracci Drive where a female roommate told them she had last seen McAfee at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, when he left to walk the dog. When he failed to return, she went to look in the back yard and found the dog at the rear sliding door waiting to get in. McAfee’s car was in the driveway and he did not answer his cell phone. She searched the residence and surrounding area, but could not locate him and called the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Deputies searched the area and the waterway directly adjacent to the home with no sign of him.
