CCCIA Showcase of Homes to begin

By Staff | Mar 12, 2013

The Cape Coral Construction Industry Association will kick off its 2013 Builders’ Showcase Thursday with the Builders’ Showcase Awards Dinner, with 14 builders showcasing 20 models throughout Cape Coral.

And the public will be able to visit these homes the next two weekends and perhaps win a new TV.

Those models are open to the public this weekend and next weekend. Visitors to each home can enter for a chance to win a 51-inch Samsung Flat Screen HDTV, with one entry per person, per model allowed.

The models will be open Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.

The winner of the TV will be chosen the week following the showcase.

Mo Beneke, executive director of the CCCIA, said last year there were only eight models from five builders and no showcases in 2009 and 2010 because of the economy, so to have the rebound like this is proof builders believe the rebound is here.

“You have the commitment to these builders to what we believe is the reawakening of Cape Coral,” Beneke said. “To go from that number and build these showcase models, that says a lot.”

And the builders have pulled out all the stops to make sure the homes are as awesome as ever. Beneke said the judges were impressed with what they saw.

“They are beautiful models. They were so beautiful I wanted to burn my house down,” Beneke said. “I would be hard pressed to tell you which ones I wanted the most.”

Builders’ Showcase magazines that detail each model’s location are available at the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge, as well as other publications.

Showcase judges toured each model tallied up scores to award homebuilders based on several categories and price-points.

The categories include the best in exterior, kitchen, bathroom, pool, interior, floor plan and landscaping, as well as best overall in each category and Builders’ Showcase top honors for highest scoring model.

“We’re back, we’re proud and we’re ready for business,” CCCIA President Anthony Greco said, sentiments shares by Beneke.

“You heard we were the foreclosure capital, well guess what, we’re coming out and we’re coming back strong and proud,” Beneke said. “And these models show it. We don’t look like a city holding its head in shame.”
