Veterans Park plans Colored Coconut Hunt
The Annual Colored Coconut Hunt is March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road S. Registration begins at 10 a.m.
The hunt will be broken into four age groups - ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-13 - with colored coconuts and candy-filled eggs for each group. Prizes will be given for special eggs and coconuts.
There will be a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny, so bring your camera. Enjoy games, face painting and activities for all.
Cost is $5 per child. Event is limited to 100 participants, so pre-registration is a must.

Discussion on U.S. Supreme Court cases
The League of Women Voters will host its annual member meeting from 8:45 a.m. to noon April 6 at the Hilton Garden Inn, at 12601 University Drive in Fort Myers. Breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by a guest speaker at 9:30 a.m.
The meeting is open to members and the interested public.
The guest speaker is James L. O'Leary II, a civil trial attorney. He will talk about recent U.S. Supreme Court cases of interest to the league, including the Affordable Care Act, Citizens United and the Voters Rights Act.

Libertarian Party of Lee County meeting
The Libertarian Party of Lee County will meet from 7-8:45 p.m. April 3 at Shoeless Joe's at the Crowne Plaza at Bell Tower in South Fort Myers. Dinner is served from 7-7:45 and is self-pay.
The guest speaker is Charlene Couillard, a physician assistant. She will present "Healthcare: A Libertarian Perspective."

'Inspirations' art show seeking submissions
Visual artists are invited to submit up to two framed or gallery-wrapped pieces of art for the first annual "Inspirations" art show to be held April 14 at the Majestic Golf Course, at 350 Homestead Road S.
Hosted by the Arts of the Inland, this is a judged show. Art mediums that will be accepted are: watercolor, mixed media, pen and ink, oil, acrylic, pastels and charcoals. The work must be original and completed within the last two years.
The fee is $10 per art work for Arts of the Inland members and Art Council of Southwest Florida members; the non-member's fee is $20 per art work.

Fashion show set
The General Women's Club of Lehigh Acres will host its annual fashion show April 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Colonial Country Club, at 9175 Independence Way, Fort Myers.
This year's theme is "Fashion in Paradise." Fashions will be provided by Anthony's of Fort Myers.

Proceeds from the event will go to the General Women's Club Scholarship fund, which helps young women in Lehigh Acres fund their education.
Lee County Community Band to perform
The Lee County Community Band will perform April 7 at Cape Coral High School, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd. The event is free of charge; donations are accepted.
Band members are musicians from all walks of life - career musicians, amateurs and folks renewing skills from years past - who reside in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties.
The band rehearses from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays at St. Michael's Lutheran School in Fort Myers; new members are welcome.

Garden club to cover backyard water gardens
The Garden Club of Lehigh Acres will meet at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Fountain Crest, at 1230 Taylor Lane Ext.
Al Noblett, a volunteer horticulturist at Lakes Park in Fort Myers, is the featured speaker. He will share his expertise on "Backyard Water Gardens for Southwest Florida" and answer questions.
The regular business meeting and plant auction will follow.

General Woman's Club to award scholarships
The General Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres will award several $500 scholarships to single parents with minor children living at home.
Applicants must be a resident of Lehigh Acres and enrolled in continuing education classes at an accredited college, university or technical school.
There is no pre-printed application form. The guidelines are:
- Resident of Lehigh Acres: Send proof of residence, such as a utility bill or rent receipt.
- Provide street address and telephone number where you can be contacted; P.O Boxes will not be accepted.
- Single parent with minor children living at home.
- Name of college, university or technical school in which you are currently enrolled.
- Brief biography that includes your area of study.
Application must be received no later than April 20.

Bonsai Society of SW Florida to meet
The Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida will meet at 9 a.m. April 20 at Wigert's Bonsai Nursery, at 2930 South Road, North Fort Myers.

Free legal advice at 'Law in the Mall'
The County Bar Association, with Florida Rural Legal Services and Lee County Legal Aid Society, will conduct its free annual "Law in the Mall" event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 in the Dillard's courtyard at the Edison Mall, at 4125 Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers.
Attorneys will be available to meet with individuals for free to answer legal questions on topics including, but not limited to, bankruptcy, civil, elder law, family law, landlord and tenant, criminal, real estate/condominium, and wills, probate and estate planning.
The public is advised to bring any relevant documents for meeting with an attorney.

Attorneys will also present four free one-hour seminars on legal topics impacting Lee County's citizens. Space is limited for each seminar to the first 30 people who register at the event desk that day.
Community Plan Workshop planned
A Lehigh Acres Community Plan Workshop is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 4 at the East County Regional Library, at 881 Gunnery Road N. The topic is "Kickoff of the Lehigh Acres Planning and Design Study."
Mom's Morning Out program for families
Mom's Morning Out is May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Alva Community Center, at 21471 N. River Road, Alva.
The program provides supervision for preschoolers ages 3-5 so mother can have a few hours to themselves. Participating children must be potty trained.
It includes inside games, play time, short movies, snack, playground, arts and crafts, and fun time with music.

Bonsai Society to host annual picnic, auction
The Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida will hold its annual picnic and auction May 18 at the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council's Center, at 2166 Virginia Ave., Fort Myers.
Sidewalk sales and viewing of auction items will begin at 10 a.m., with the auction of trees and related materials beginning at 11 a.m. A lunch buffet will follow.
There is no admission fee, and parking and the lunch are free.
