Lee County is providing residents in Lehigh Acres, Alva and East Fort Myers with a new 64-gallon container for the collection of recyclable material.
The distribution of the new containers began April 1 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-June.
The old, 18-gallon recycle bins are the property of Lee County and will be collected by the Lee County Solid Waste Division.
Residents are asked to place the old bins at the curb on the scheduled recycling collection day so that they can be collected.
The Lee County Solid Waste Division is in the process of furnishing single-family homes a postcard mailer with information.
Approximately 145,000 customers in Lee County have already used these 64-gallon wheeled containers since 2010.
The new container is on wheels and makes it more convenient to get recyclables to the curb on collection day and eliminates the use of multiple bins.
