Local man accused of helping cohort steal from his employer

April 10, 2013
Lehigh Acres Citizen

A Lehigh Acres man found himself behind bars after showing more loyalty to a friend than his boss, by assisting in the theft of an Xbox from his employer, according to authorities.

Carl Harper, 25, was arrested and charged March 26 with grand theft after store managers at the Walmart on Lee Boulevard caught him on surveillance video helping a man conceal an Xbox.

While Harper paid the price for his role in the escapade - a felony grand theft charge - his partner-in-crime has yet to be identified and arrested.

Security footage from the store captured images of the man walking into the store and now Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers hopes someone can help identify him.

The man being sought was wearing a red cap and left the store with the $300 device hidden underneath an oversized shirt - bypassing all registers and simply walking away with the stolen property - thanks to a little help from Harper.

Anyone with information on the identify of the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
