Keep Lee County Beautiful, partnering with the Lehigh Aces Community Initiative, is one of the 200 causes selected as finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program.
The submission, along with the other finalists, are live on Facebook and anyone who gets the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook application can log on and vote for the cause.
The 40 causes that receive the most votes will be announced on April 29 and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to the affiliated nonprofits to implement the solution.
The local cause is titled "Beautifying our Community." The mission to rid the Greater Lehigh Acres of liter and blight to promote a safe, healthy and beautiful place to live and play.
The aim is to get residents to feel proud of their neighborhoods so that children can play and parents will not be afraid of what they will find along their streets.
Residents will be engaged with block parties to create a sense of pride and allow them to locate services and create Neighborhood watch groups to increase their quality of life.
The lasting impact will be the community efficacy that will generate pride and cleaner streets. It will also allow families that are struggling financially to receive tools to become more self-sufficient.
The efforts will allow the community to transform its image one neighborhood at a time to create a beautiful place to live, work and play.

The voting phase is open until April 22 and any Facebook user who gets the application is eligible to vote up to 10 times per day.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist is a crowd-sourced philanthropic initiative that lets communities determine where grant funding is awarded, exclusively through Facebook.
