Sun Cup organizers offer thanks

To the editor:

The 2013 Sun Cup recently concluded here in Southwest Florida, and our 80-plus participants from 17 states were delighted with the reception they received while in the area. We are proud to have hosted the second annual event and are already looking forward to the 2014 Sun Cup.

We also wish to thank our tournament hosts - Heritage Palms Golf and Country Club, The Plantation Golf and Country Club, The Forest Country Club and Old Corkscrew Golf Club - for their hospitality and world-class venues.

Our nightly 19th Hole event would not have been possible without the generosity from Gulf Coast Town Center, with special thanks to Bar Louie, Famous Dave's Barbecue, Red Robin, Aurelio's Pizza and the World Famous Cigar Bar.

Our sponsors continue to be generous to the Sun Cup, as well. Rockstar Realty, 1 Eye Design, Back 9 Jerky, the Laugh In Comedy Cafe, Stonewood Grill and Tavern, L.O.F.T. Golf, Ajay Verma from Ameriprise Financial, and Bob & Stacy's all lend a special touch to a wonderful event. Thanks, too, to Golf Galaxy in the GCTC for hosting our pre-tournament check-in.

The Sun Cup staff makes this tournament go, as CEO Jason Fry, IT director John Dunagan, media director David Wasson, on-site superstars Josh Baltrusaitis and Earl Persinger, and The Forest's Andrew Plesz all worked tirelessly to make this a success.

But most importantly, we thank our players. They believe in the Sun Cup mission - to grow golf in Southwest Florida - and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the week spent with them. We are much more than five tournament rounds on great golf courses. We are a complete tournament experience, and our 2013 field embraces that concept.

See you in 2014.
