Newsweek reports two local schools among America’s best

“Newsweek” recently released its list of America’s Best High Schools for 2013, giving two Lee County high schools cause for celebration. Fort Myers High School and Riverdale High School made the cut for the impressive list.

To determine a school’s rank and inclusion on the list, “Newsweek” evaluated schools based on six components: graduation rate, college acceptance rate, the number of AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course.

Out of just 2,000 schools included nationwide, Fort Myers High School is ranked 701 and Riverdale High School is ranked 1969.
