Women’s professional group forming

A new group of professional women in Lehigh Acres is being formed and Dr. Karen McKenzie, a Hodges University professor, who lives in Lehigh, is pulling it all together.

"It's a new professional network for women in a new women's networking group in Lehigh Acres. The purpose of this group is to being relationships with other business women to help support each other in their business," McKenzie said.

She said the goal of the new organization is also to help provide training, seminars and fundraising efforts to help Lehigh Acres professional women.

Such topics as marketing, sales and management are important topics that the group will discuss, learn about and be able put into their daily business practices.

"We will be making a difference here in Lehigh," McKenzie said.

"We welcome new business women to attend. You can attend the first meeting for free and if you join, the cost is $75 for the year. We're Professional Network for Women and we plan to provide an environment in which professional business women can develop their business while networking with other professional business women and creating relationships that can foster their business," she said

Goals for the new Professional network for women include:

- Meeting with professional women monthly to network.

- Learning about building relationships to foster your business.

- Provide an avenue for women to meet other professional women.

- Providing means to give back to the community.

- Develop and enrich your own personal development.

- To support other local businesses in Lehigh Acres.

- To educate women in areas of business, marketing and social media.

The group also plans upcoming events to help raise money for various charities that the group will support.

McKenzie said that that the next meeting of the new group is set for June 4 at 546 Chamonix Ave. S., in Lehigh Acres. It is at McKenzie's home.

She said the meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with snacks and drinks provided. Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month throughout the summer.

She urges local business women in Lehigh to bring along another friend who is also in involved in business activities.

An upcoming event by the new group is a "garage sale" to be held on Saturday, June 8 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 617 Grant Ave. in Lehigh. Proceeds are for charity.
