Oliver "Ollie" J. Conover, 83, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Hope Hospice in Lehigh Acres. He was born March 15, 1930, in Freehold, N.J.
He moved to Lehigh Acres about 15 years ago. He was development director at the Southwest Florida Symphony prior to working for the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce in 2002.
He served as executive director and his tenure with the chamber lasted until his retirement in 2008. He was credited for increasing the chamber's membership.

He was a strong and enthusiastic advocate for community development.
Survivors include Bobby McGowan, his partner of 26 years; son, Jeff (Alice) Conover; son, Garrett Conover; grandchildren, Christian Conover and Cashin Conover; and niece, Suzy of Lehigh Acres.
At his request, no services were held for him.
His family members wanted to express their gratitude to Hope Hospice and Lehigh Regional Medical Center for their care of him.
