The Lee County Bureau of Corrections is an efficient and safely operated group of facilities, according to the latest inspection performed by the Florida Model Jail Standard.

The inspection is a requirement mandated to all correctional/detention facilities in the state. The assessment is strictly regulated and encompasses a series of requirements.

At minimum, the inspection is conducted annually and consists of two parts, correctional operation and medical compliance.

The annual inspection of the Lee County Bureau of Corrections was conducted May 22-23. The inspection team is comprised of certified jail inspectors commissioned by the Florida Sheriffs Association.

A letter sent to the Corrections Bureau Commanders noted that the three facilities comply with all applicable standards.

"The high level of compliance and cleanliness is exceptional and is a demonstration that you and your staff are committed to maintaining this level throughout the year. We commend you and your staff for their professionalism, dedication and a job well done," the lead inspector wrote.

The Lee County Sheriffs Office Corrections Bureau is dedicated to public safety. This philosophy is extended to maintaining staff and inmate safety, while managing and operating the facilities efficiently.
