Edison offers ACE personal trainer certification prep

Edison State College is offering a prep course for individuals who wish to become certified American Council on Exercise, or ACE, personal trainers.

The course is designed to give students the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam and become effective personal trainers.

Students will be able to assess an individual's level of fitness using the recommended ACE guidelines, and they will be able to design and customize exercise programs based on fitness level, future needs and fitness goals.

They will also be able to demonstrate proper execution of all types of exercises, from free weights to strength machines, as well as proper stretching and isometric exercise techniques

The 45-hour course is completed through 30 hours of lecture, nine hours of gym training and six hours of study sessions for the exam.

The information provided will help students learn how to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy and behavior change in clients, as well as how to design programs to help improve posture, movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardio respiratory fitness and muscular endurance and strength.

Adult CPR and AED required prior taking the ACE national certification exam.

Space is limited; advance registration and payment are required.
