At 2:29 a.m. June 29, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a traffic crash at 3709 23rd St. S.W. Deputies responded to the scene, according to officials.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed an SUV had struck a parked car in a neighboring driveway and then the garage side of the residence at the address. The vehicle landed on its side and pinned the passenger inside.
The driver of the vehicle was seen by witnesses walking away.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, Paul Edward Williams, 38, of 3635 Highland Ave., Fort Myers, reportedly lost control while driving at a high rate of speed. He plowed through the cul-de-sac, struck the parked car and came to rest after going airborne to strike the roof and side of the home.
Williams was located and transported to a local hospital with head injuries. His blood alcohol content was . 17 - more than two times over the legal limit, according to officials.
He was given a notice to appear in court on multiple DUI charges, including DUI with property damage and DUI with injury to another, as well as other traffic offenses. His license had been suspended.
The passenger, Tiffany Chenatte Roberts, 38, sustained head injuries and was taken to the hospital after extricated from the vehicle.
The injuries to driver and passenger are not believed to be life-threatening, officials reported. There was an adult and two children in the home at the time of the crash, but no one was injured.
