Libertarian Party of Lee County to meet
The Libertarian Party of Lee County will meet today, July 3, from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the Judge Landis/Useppa Room at the Shoeless Joe's restaurant at Bell Tower in South Fort Myers.
Dinner is served from 7 to 7:45 p.m. and is self-pay, Will Bronson, Democratic candidate for Congress FL-17, will talk about genetically modified organisms at 7:45 p.m.

UNIT?A?to showcase Jansen's new work
Artist Marcus Jansen's newest paintings will be unveiled from 6 to 10 p.m. July 5 at UNIT A in downtown Fort Myers.
Free and open to the public.
Guest artist and former Robert Rauschenberg assistant Jonas Sterner will also have large and small sculpture works on display.
BBQ?for HOPE to benefit Lee County Volunteers in Medicine
Lee County Volunteers in Medicine is hosting the BBQ for HOPE to celebrate its two-year anniversary of providing free health care to Lee County.
The event will be held July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Microtel Inn and Suites, at 1320 Business Way. Live music by Hunker Down, along with a barbecue including chicken, brisket and pulled pork, and a cash bar.
Cost is $10 per person and includes the barbecue dinner and a non-alcoholic drink.
All proceeds will benefit Lee County Volunteers in Medicine.
JetBlue to host soccer camp
About 300 soccer players from around the country and up to 40 coaches will converge on JetBlue Park in Fort Myers in July as part of Futbol Club Barcelona's affiliate for youth soccer.
This is the first year that the club, designed for ages 6-14, has staged a camp in Fort Myers. The day camp runs July 8-12 and the coaches' camp runs July 6-7.
The Barcelona group is among the highest profile soccer teams worldwide. Futbol Club Barcelona hosts the largest number of spectators of all stadiums in Europe, with 98,800 seats sold.
JetBlue Park is a Lee County facility that touts six youth soccer fields that are used for tournament play and youth soccer about 10 months out of the year.

Public welcome to attend 'An Artful Evening'
The Arts of the Inland and the Gulf Coast Music School present "An Artful Evening" at 6 p.m. July 11 in the auditorium at Keiser University, at 9100 Forum Corporate Parkway, Fort Myers.
The event features string performances by the GCMS students, literary readings by AOI members, soprano soloist Christine Bronson and artwork by AOI members Joan Benner, Julie Camp, Bobbee Cera, June DeVincent, Connie Killebrew, Deborah Kik, LaVon Koenig, Peggy Parker, Douglas Patterson and Noel Skiba.

Women's Club to go over FGCU plans
The Democratic Women's Club of Lee County will meet at 10:30 a.m. July 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn at College Parkway and Summerlin Road.
The featured speaker is Dr. Richard Behr, dean of Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University. He will speak on FGCU's plans for the future and its contributions to the cultural and economic strength of Southwest Florida.

Free entry to pool on Saturdays for summer
In partnership with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Nations Association, Lee County Parks and Recreation and the Lee County School District, the Tice Community Pool is helping children cool off and take pride in their community this summer.
At 4515 Glenwood Ave., the pool will be open to the public every Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. until Aug. 3. Admission is free.
Safety is a priority and a number of deputies and volunteers have become certified life guards for the outreach. Water safety instructions given on site.
'Pickin' In The Park set
Musicians come together to perform during 'Pickin' In The Park from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at the lodge by the lake at the rear of Veterans Park.
The public is welcome to join in playing or just enjoy the music. There is no charge.

Arthritis water exercise class offered at pool
Sponsored by the National Arthritis Foundation, a free exercise class will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lehigh Community Park pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St.
Suitable for every fitness level, exercises focus on the activities of daily living, moving a joint through a range of motion and holding it to feel a gentle stretch in the muscle.
Guided by an Arthritis Foundation certified instructor, the 45-minute class is held in chest-deep water; no swimming ability is required. Lifeguards are always on-duty, and the pool has handrails and shallow steps leading in.
No registration is necessary.
