Lehigh Acres Citizen

Inman "Averitt" Walker, 66, of Lehigh Acres, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Hope Hospice in Lehigh Acres, after a lengthy illness. He was born May 7, 1947, in Statenville/Echols County, Ga., to the late Adam and Irene Thornton Walker.

He resided in the Valdosta, Ga., area until 1978, when he relocated to Southwest Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Dennis Walker; daughter, Victoria Walker; son, Phil (Carla) Butler; grandchildren, Jeremy, Phillip, Madisson and Mackenzie; and great-grandson, Gabriel, all of Lehigh Acres; brothers, Coy (Cheryl) Walker of Myakka City, Fla., Leroy Walker of Dasher, Ga., Daniel (Sheila) Walker of Jasper, Fla., Larry (Sandy) Walker of Valdosta, Ga., and Gary (Judy) Walker of Nokomis, Fla.; sisters, Grace (Ronnie) Willis of Valdosta, Ga., and Carolyn (Chris) Mixon of Clyattville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Adam Walker Jr. and Richard Walker.

No funeral or memorial service will be held based on his wishes; instead of mourning his passing from this earthly life, his wishes were for his going home to be celebrated. Those who trust in Jesus will never say goodbye, we simply say, "I will see you later, on the other side."

"I am the Resurrection and the Life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die" (John 11:25-26).

Arrangements handled by the Hodges-Farley Funeral Home.
