Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying and tracking down a man responsible for a costly vehicle break-in last month.
According to detectives, a white man in his 40s, driving a white truck, broke into a vehicle at Sea Breeze Electric, at 300 Leonard Blvd., shortly after noon July 14.
The man managed to pry open the side sliding door to a Dodge work van and bust out one of the vehicle's windows, giving him access to all the equipment inside. In addition to causing more than $1,500 in damage to the van, the thief also heisted a Power House generator, a blue Bosch chipping hammer, a Gardner stud punch, a Milwaukee heat gun and some orange steel fish tape - in total valued at just under an additional $2,000.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect's truck, and now detectives hope someone can identify the truck and its driver.
Anyone with information on the thief, his truck or the whereabouts of the stolen items, can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000.
