Death ruled homicide

Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit say a man found dead in Lehigh Acres on Aug. 15 was the victim of a homicide.

The victim has been positively identified as Kyle Byrtus, 25, of Fort Myers. His body was discovered in the area of Meadow Road and Leah Court in Lehigh Acres.

The cause of death is not being released at this time as the investigation continues.

Detectives say they believe Byrtus frequented the Pine Manor area of Lee County.

Anyone who has seen Byrtus recently or has knowledge of the circumstances surrounding his death is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000.
