Lawrence "Larry" Wolfe, 74, of Lehigh Acres, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Oakwood of LaBelle Health Care following a lengthy illness. He was born July 30, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa, the proud son of Elsie (Staub) and Jay Wolfe.
He worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years, spending the majority of his career as a letter carrier in the greater Davenport area.
He was a very active member of the congregation at Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church in Davenport until 1994, when he relocated to Florida to live with his brother.
He joined Faith Lutheran Church in Lehigh Acres as an associate member on May 22, 1995. He became a full member on Dec. 11, 2005.
He taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. He was also the stewardship chairman for one year.
He continued to love and serve the Lord.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Wolfe of Lehigh Acres; 50-year golfing buddy, Gerald Scott of Missouri; and many extended family and acquaintances, who will miss his fellowship and friendship.
He is predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be celebrated following the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to Faith Lutheran Church or to another charity of your choice.
