The Lehigh Acres Fire Department responded to 13901 Green Meadow Road on Oct. 19 at 3:17 a.m. for a residential structure fire to a detached storage building, according to Fire Marshal Ken Bennett.
He said the structure was fully involved upon arrival and there was a total loss of the structure and contents. Damage is estimated to be $60,000.
Three stations responded equipment and personnel, Bennett said.
The residents were awakened to a loud boom and soon discovered the fire. The owner raced outside and was able to save the horses that were located on the north side of the building.
This was a dual purpose building with an enclosed storage on one side and a horse barn on the other, Bennett said.
There were no injuries.
The state fire marshal was requested to assist with the investigation of the fire. Due to the extensive damage, it has been listed as undetermined at this time, Bennett said.
