Robert Bruce Patterson, 52, of Lehigh Acres, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, of natural causes. He was born Aug. 11, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pa.
He was a noble soul who bore the scourge of schizophrenia for more than 32 years. The disease interrupted his education and his work in food service.
He is a 1979 graduate of Fort Myers High School.

He was first to empty his pocket for someone in need. He was artistic, warm and witty; he loved to laugh, and he hated going to the doctor.
He adored his little dog, MacMac.
He had a keen intelligence, delighted in history and football and in a juicy steak, and understood that the change we wish to see in the world must begin with each of us.
Survivors include his mother, Joan of Lehigh Acres; brothers, Don (Cheryl) and Steven (May); sisters, Karen, Donna (Ron) and Debbie (Dennis); and stepmother, Maureen.
He was predeceased by his father, Don; and grandparents, Bill and Olive.
Services were held Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at the Anderson-Patterson Funeral Chapel in Lehigh Acres. Interment was held at Lee Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the local food bank.
