Jimmie A. Knight, 95, of Fort Myers, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Webster County, Miss., one of 11 children born to G.W. and Lula B. Shaffer.
In 1947, she and family moved to Floral City, Fla., where she lived in the Knight family home.
She was an active member of the Floral City Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and working in the nursery. After 20 years, she retired from the Citrus County School system as cafeteria manager at Floral City School.

In 1986, she moved to Fort Myers. While living there, she faithfully supported the Buckingham Presbyterian Church.
She loved to "work in the yard" and her azaleas and poinsettias were admired by many.
She is survived by her daughters, Hattie Lou (Sam) Smith of Fort Myers and Janet K. (Ron) Schol of Gainesville; sisters, Eva Peshek and Bobbie Shaffer; brother, James Shaffer; grandsons, Sam W. Smith Jr., Mark Smith, Victor Smith and Dean Schol; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jont A. Knight Jr.; infant daughter, Doris Reid; grandson, Greg Schol; and seven of her siblings.
