Senior center presents activities, programs for November

The Lehigh Acres Senior Citizens Center presents the upcoming events, sponsored by the Lehigh Regional Medical Center:

- Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m. Hot Dog Day. Hot dog, chips and a soda for $2. You must be a member and sign up in advance.

- Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. Drs. Breakfast. Dr. Sabha at hospitalist will speak about hospital physician care and home care. Free breakfast provided by LRMC. Must sign up in advance.

- Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Health Fair. Open to the public. Memberships for new year begins on this date.

- Nov. 18 at 11:30 a.m. Lunch Bunch. AARP Carfit will speak to us. Must sign up for an appointment. Free for members, but must sign up in advance.

- Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Meet-N-Eat. Carpool to Mimi's Caf in Fort Myers. You must sign up in advance. This is a limit to how many can sign up.

- Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. November Birthday Party. Birthday lunch and show by our very own "Entertainment Group." Meal free to birthday members. $7.50 for guests. Must sign up and must be a member.

- Nov. 22 at 1:30-3:45 p.m. Caribbean and Latin Dance. Bring a treat from whatever your nationality. Free.

- Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. we have Bingo with large jack pots. Nonmembers are welcome.

- Monday-Friday at 9-11 a.m. Free Blood Pressure checks for members.

- Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Meet with the social club and plan events for the weekends.

The physically active classes are line dancing, exercise classes including Zumba, Tai Chi, Yoga, Dance X, chair dancing, walking, bocce, shuffleboard, simulated bowling, dances, corn hole, ballroom dancing, ping pong and billiards.

The creative classes are creative writing, photography class, cricket crafting, discussion group, piano, book club, public speaking class, Choir, Swedish weaving, tatting, needlework-many types, punch needle, woodcarving, stain glass, plastic art craft, sewing for beginners and advanced, pine needle baskets, all mediums of art, make a teddy bear class, craft class, beading and quilting.

Multiple card games such as Pinochle, Bridge, Cribbage, Hand and Foot, Yahtzee and Sheepshead are played weekly.

There are beginners and intermediate computer classes, followed by a computer art and Microsoft Word class.

Join the center for $15 a year and enjoy the Lee County pool on Williams for an extra $10 a year. It will cost $2 a day for nonmembers for the center.
