Frederic W. "Fred" Schlosstein, 90, of Lehigh Acres, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, with his family at his side. He was born March 17, 1923, in Newark, N.J., the son of Frances (Kenzel) and Frederic W. Schlosstein Sr.
He was the loving and devoted husband to Anne F. Nelligan, who preceded him in death in 2012.
He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving with the Air Corps.
He earned a master's degree in accounting and was also an accomplished public servant.
He served as treasurer and collector of taxes for the Town of Warren in Massachusetts. He was later was elected as state representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1965-72) and subsequently was elected as state senator for the Massachusetts Senate (1973-78).
After he moved to Lehigh, he became involved in local affairs.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Susan Vertefeuille and Marianne Donahue.
A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated in the future at the convenience of the family.
