At 11:11 p.m. Nov. 26, a 911 operator with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call about a traffic crash at the intersection of SR 82 and Columbus Blvd.
Deputies responded to the scene. Due to the nature of the crash, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit were assigned to continue the investigation.
Preliminary information reveals the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Columbus approaching SR 82. A 2006 Honda was westbound on SR 82 approaching Columbus.
The Chevrolet struck the Honda in the right rear causing it to spin and overturn in the culvert on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Remijio Saldana Perez, 45, of 953 B Eisenhower Blvd., was transported to Lee Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Honda, Charles David Bader, 56, of 216 Woodingham Place, Venice, and Michael Nicholas Katyryniuk, 66, of 210 Jim Davis Road, Tellico Plains, Tenn., were confirmed deceased.
Weather may have played a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
Lee County Sheriffs Office Traffic Unit is looking for the public's assistance. Investigators have learned that good samaritans stopped and helped the victims of the crash.
In addition there may be some additional witnesses to the event.
