LRMS, associates provide Thanksgiving dinner to families
Lehigh Regional Medical Center again provided 25 turkeys and the associates prepared 25 huge baskets of all the items needed to offer Thanksgiving dinners to families in the community.
Lehigh Community Services selects families who are experiencing difficulties and would be unable to provide their children with a traditional holiday dinner.
This is a partnership that has been ongoing for many years.

Libertarian Party of Lee County to meet
The Libertarian Party of Lee County will meet today, Dec. 4, from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the Judge Landis/Useppa Room at the Shoeless Joe's restaurant at Bell Tower in South Fort Myers.
Dinner is served from 7 to 7:45 p.m. and is self-pay.
The program, "Understanding and Using Florida's Public Records/Sunshine Laws," will begin at 7:45 p.m.

Letter carriers to take part in annual toy drive
In support of the Marine Corp's Toys For Tots Foundation, United States Postal Service letter carriers will collect new, unwrapped toys left at mailboxes as they deliver mail on Dec. 7.
Participation is open to all post office customers in the Suncoast District, which includes ZIP codes beginning with the following first three digits: 321, 327, 328, 329, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 341, 342, 346 and 347.
All toys collected will be distributed through the Toys For Tots program to provide a bright holiday for less fortunate children.
ECWCD to host welcome reception
A holiday welcoming reception will be held Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. in the Barrett Room at the East County Water Control District Office, at 601 East County Lane.
The event will honor Brian Hamman, vice-chair of the Lee County Board of County Commissioners, Lee County Manager Roger Dejarlais and Richard Wm. Wesch, an attorney.
The event is free, and light refreshments will be provided.

Ladies Auxiliary to hold Christmas dinner, dance
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus will host a Christmas dinner dance Dec. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. at St. Raphael's Church Hall on Lee Boulevard.
It is open to the public.
Music will be provided by Oldies but Goodies, with William "Bill" Corrion.
A chicken marcela dinner will be served.
Cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple.
The event is BYOB.
There will be baskets raffled off and a 50/50 raffle held.

Lehigh Concert Band to perform free concert
The Lehigh Concert Band will hold a free concert Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd.
Enjoy Christmas favorites, like "Sleigh Ride," "I'll be Home for Christmas," and "Santa is Coming to Town," along with "German Christmas Festival" and "Festive Sounds of Hanukah."
There will be an audience singalong of some of the popular holiday carols. Bring the children to hear "T'was The Night Before Christmas with narration."
Non-perishable food will be collected for the food bank.
LCAS to?take part in Home 4 The Holidays
Lee County Domestic Animal Services is participating in Home 4 the Holidays, a national event to raise awareness of the joys of owning shelter-adopted pets.
During December, LCDAS hopes to place 300 pets from its facility into life-long homes.
Adopters will receive $20 to $50 off the regular pet adoption fees when they draw a coupon from one of the big stockings and are eligible for weekly gift drawings.
All black and mostly black cats are already discounted to $10 and cats and kittens are two for one.
The adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, de-worming, heartworm test for dogs 6 months or older, feline aids and leukemia test for cats, a Lee County license for pets 3 months or older, training DVD, Behavior Help Line, Microchip Pet ID, $3 off coupon on Blue Buffalo dog or cat food and a 10-day Health Guarantee.
The total adoption package is valued at more than $500.
Adoption hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Free monthly art demos
Instructor June De Vincent will give a free demonstration of a different art medium on the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road S.

Pool offers fall swim lessons, aerobics
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is hosting fall swim lessons.
A range of skill levels are offered for all ages by American Red Cross-certified instructors.
Eight classes are $50.
Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose the fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, or the low-impact National Arthritis Foundation-sponsored class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.
Classes are in chest-deep water, 45 minutes in length and do not heavily impact joints.
There are lifeguards on-duty; lap swimmers are welcome.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for ages 17 and under, and $2 for seniors.

Pickin' In The Park scheduled
Musicians come together to perform during Pickin' In The Park from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at the lodge by the lake at the rear of Veterans Park.
