Ethnic Bake Sale set

All Saints Catholic Church will have an Ethnic Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 21 at 10291 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers.

Several baked goods will be available, such as nut rolls, poppyseed rolls, cookies and a variety of breads. There will be six varieties of Pirohi and stuffed cabbage.

Senior center to host New Year Silver Ball

The Lehigh Acres Senior Center will celebrate the approach of 2014 with a New Year Silver Ball from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 27 at 219 Plaza Drive.

Steve Burden will sing and entertain in the styles of Elvis, Neil Diamond, Johnnie Ray and Frank Sinatra. Burden relies on his vocal talent and stage presence to keep his audience well enthralled.

Cost is $7 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres, hats and tiaras, balloon drop, noise-makers, faux champagne toast and more.

LCAS to?take part in Home 4 The Holidays

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is participating in Home 4 the Holidays, a national event to raise awareness of the joys of owning shelter-adopted pets.

During December, LCDAS hopes to place 300 pets from its facility into life-long homes.

Adopters will receive $20 to $50 off the regular pet adoption fees when they draw a coupon from one of the big stockings and are eligible for weekly gift drawings.

All black and mostly black cats are already discounted to $10 and cats and kittens are two for one.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, de-worming, heartworm test for dogs 6 months or older, feline aids and leukemia test for cats, a Lee County license for pets 3 months or older, training DVD, Behavior Help Line, Microchip Pet ID, $3 off coupon on Blue Buffalo dog or cat food and a 10-day Health Guarantee.

The total adoption package is valued at more than $500.

Adoption hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Instructor June De Vincent will give a free demonstration of a different art medium on the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 Homestead Road S.

For ages 14 and older.

The schedule is as follows:

– Feb. 19: Optical illusion art

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is hosting fall swim lessons.

A range of skill levels are offered for all ages by American Red Cross-certified instructors.

Eight classes are $50.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose the fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, or the low-impact National Arthritis Foundation-sponsored class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.

Classes are in chest-deep water, 45 minutes in length and do not heavily impact joints.

There are lifeguards on-duty; lap swimmers are welcome.

Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for ages 17 and under, and $2 for seniors.
