Cape Coral Councilmember Richard Williams got what he asked for from the city's Special Populations program.

Artist and Special Pops worker Linda Livesey stopped by Williams' office in City Hall Wednesday to deliver her painting of the city logo that Williams commissioned on the day he was elected to the District 6 seat last month.

"I forgot about it for awhile, but finished it in two days," said Livesey, one of about 20 participants in the Special Pops art program.

the painting Wednesday accompanied by Special Pops employee Judy Radford.

"She is tremendous, she knocked it out in two days," said Vince Marcucci, president of the Guardian Angels for Special Pops. "Of course, she's a perfectionist so she went back over it a couple of times to touch up here, touch up there."

Williams also is a member of the Guardian Angels, which holds events to raise funds to pay for the art supplies and other expenses within Special Pops programs. The art produced is displayed and sold at various events around the community.

"I'm extremely happy with it," Williams said. "I wanted the city logo and am proud to hang it in my office. It's a nice thing. I want to promote Special Pops and the wonderful program that it is. It gives them something to do and they love doing it."

Livesey also does paint-by-numbers, counted cross stitch and other crafts.

"She's a word search fanatic," said Marcucci. "And she does the hard word search ones, too."

The arts program meets during the day and holds a night session four to five times each quarter to provide a maximum number of opportunities for people to participate.
