Deputy involved in crash

December 24, 2013
Lehigh Acres Citizen

At about 10:54 p.m. Dec. 18, the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic crash involving a marked patrol unit and a gray Buick at the intersection of Lee and Sunniland boulevards.

Due to the nature of the crash LCSO Traffic Units assumed the investigation.

An investigation revealed that the deputy was traveling westbound in the inside lane approaching Sunniland when the Buick, driven by James A. Bursey, 74, of 4632 Golfview Blvd., turned left into the path of the deputy, striking his vehicle in the left side.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were towed from the crash scene.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Buick were transported to Lehigh Regional Hospital for precautionary purposes.

All parties were treated and released without injury.

The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
