County middle schools to host open houses

In preparation for the Student Assignment enrollment period, Lee County middle schools will host open houses so families can explore the campuses before they choose a school for sixth grade.

Area open houses include:

- Harns Marsh Middle School: Jan. 8 at 6 p.m

- Lehigh Acres Middle School: Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.

- Varsity Lake Middle School: Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.

- Veterans Park Academy For The Arts: Call the school for a personal tour.

The application period for the Student Assignment process opens Jan. 21 and runs through March 28.

Parents and students are encouraged to visit schools in their subzones before ranking their school choices on their applications.

Each year, students entering kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade participate in the Student Assignment process by ranking their school choices.

More information on Student Assignment will be released in January.
