Chamber’s Awards Gala set for Jan. 25 at Pelican Reserve

By Staff | Jan 15, 2014

Members of the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce are holding their 2014 Awards Gala on Saturday, January 25 with a 5:30 p.m. reception with dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The occasion marks the 22nd annual event.

It will be held at Pelican Preserve at 10571 Veneto Drive in Fort Myers. The annual awards gala is the premier event of the chamber year, says Inke Baker, the CEO and executive director of the chamber.

It is the 22nd annual awards presentations including Teacher or the Year and the installation of 2014 chamber directors.

There will be a silent auction with music, dinner and drinks. Entertainment will be provided DJ Jay.

The keynote speak had not been confirmed as of the end of last week, but as soon as it is known, it will be published in The Citizen.

“We’re just waiting for some confirmations,” Baker said.

As in previous years, local supporters of the chamber of local businesses donate items to the silent auction which takes place just outside the dining hall.

Baker said they are expecting between 190 and 200 people to attend the gala event.

There’s still time to participate in the Silent Auction if a donor wants to make a contribution. Call the chamber at 369-3322 or e-mail Baker at: IBaker@LehighAcres Chamber.org.

Baker said that support from the community helps the chamber to carry out its mission statement: “To promote and enhance the civic, economic and social welfare of the community of Lehigh Acres.”

Baker said Susan Thompson and Diane Lashua are Awards Gala committee chairpersons.

“Your silent auction items will be listed in a special auction program that will describe each item as well as the name of each item’s donor. Should your business or organization not have any merchandise to donate, then gift certificates or gift baskets are always great auction items and they are much appreciated,” Baker said.

“We’re looking for a good turnout. Each year, the banquet is more fun than the previous ones,” she said.

Tickets for the awards gala are $50 per person and reservations should be made by calling the chamber.

“It’s a dress up affair,” Baker said. “We’re asking for ‘black tie attire,'”

Table and event sponsorships are also available. Baker is asking for a RSVP by Jan. 17.

She said of the upcoming event: “It’s the night where the stars of our community are shining the brightest!”
