Search still on for two men in armed robbery
Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two masked men who held up a Lehigh Acres convenience store at gunpoint in October, taking off with pockets full of cash.
Shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, two armed men barreled through the front door of GG’s Grocery, located at 322 Gunnery Road. One man, carrying a handgun, immediately walked behind the counter, and held the weapon to the clerk’s head, demanding that she empty the register of all its cash.
A second male followed close behind, pointing a rifle at a customer, while seemingly standing guard near the front door.
At one point, a delivery man tried to enter the store, however the rifle-toting robber told him to leave. Both men donned all black clothing, and pulled off the robbery in less than two minutes time.
“Both of these men exhibited an extremely dangerous demeanor, and perpetrated the crime with great confidence,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers coordinator. “We strongly believe these men have committed similar crimes in the past, and may still be doing so today. Until they’re caught, there’s no telling where or when they may strike again. Sometimes people are afraid to come forward and talk right after the crime, but in this instance, some time has passed, and we hope that anyone in the know will feel more comfortable coming forward and providing any information they have to Crime Stoppers and law enforcement.”
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the two suspects are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
