January 29, 2014
Lehigh Acres Citizen

"A Grand Night for Singing" is a tasteful and imaginatively conceived revue of Rodgers & Hammerstein's musical theatre canon and strings together a legendary score with fresh and innovative musical arrangements, new characters, and features songs that have become standards the world over.

Audiences will fall in love all over again with classics like "Some Enchanted Evening," "Shall We Dance," "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning," "If I Loved You" and "It's a Grand Night for Singing."

"A Grand Night for Singing" features Alexandra Hale, Antoinette Henry, Jacob January, Erin Mosher and Joe Paparella, an all-star line-up of musical theatre talent from New York City and around the country.

An experienced opera singer, Hale is a Florida Rep staff member who is making her stage debut with the Rep, and was seen most recently in Sondheim's Company at Palm Beach Dramaworks.

Henry is in the process of recording her debut album and has made recent appearances Off-Broadway in Sistas and All American Girls.

January returns to Florida Rep after appearing as The Boy in last season's hit, "The Fantasticks."

Mosher works extensively with North Carolina's Flat Rock Playhouse, on tour, and in New York - most notably in "101 Dalmatians" at Madison Square Garden.

Paparella is a Broadway veteran having appeared in "Les Miserables," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Good Vibrations." He's worked onstage at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center and has appeared in numerous national tours and major regional theatres around the country.

"A Grand Night for Singing," with music by Richard Rodger and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, arrangements by Fred Wells, orchestrations by Michael Gibson and Jonathan Tunick, and conceived by Walter Bobbie plays Jan. 31 through Mar. 16.

Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with matinees on Wednesday and Sunday and select Saturdays at 2 p.m.
