Lehigh Regional Medical Center set to assist in Obamacare

January 29, 2014
By JOANIE JEANETTE , Lehigh Acres Citizen

We know the headlines and news reports can be confusing with so many different messages about the Affordable Care Act - also known as Obamacare. So, let us simplify things for you and make the new healthcare law easy to understand and take part in.

The ACA is making it possible for all individuals to have access to health care insurance through the online Health Insurance Marketplace. Depending on household income, some individuals may qualify for subsidies toward the cost of the premium.

If you've gone without health insurance, you know how stressful it can be when illness strikes.

Lehigh Regional is offering you an opportunity to have real peace of mind, knowing that you have access to insurance when you have a medical emergency or event.

It starts with a phone call. When you dial (239) 368-4407, one of our certified application counselors will help you navigate the insurance marketplace, assist with the selection process and enroll you in the insurance plan of your choice. Once coverage begins, you can schedule well visits with your new primary care physician, pediatrician, internal medicine specialist or family doctor.

This new healthcare coverage will make it easier for you and your family to access and afford medical services, which will lead to improvement in your care and overall health.

Another new service we are providing to the community is the Lehigh Regional Medical Center Medicare Insurance Helpline, which provides the opportunity to better understand and maximize medicare coverage. This is a free resource for patients and consumers.

Call the LRMC Medicare Insurance Helpline at (855) 256-1504. Trained personnel are available to help seniors gain more information regarding Medicare, comparing plans, comparing Part D plans, enrolling or dis-enrolling, and to help guide transitions from one plan to another if necessary.

We also have the LRMC Senior Extra program. Members receive the 2014 Medicare handbook, invites to free seminars and health fairs, discounts at the hospital cafeteria and gift shop, as well as discounts from many local merchants. More information can be obtained by going to SeniorExtra.com.

Our best wishes are sent your way for a happy and healthy 2014. We at

Lehigh Regional Medical Center are always dedicated to your good health.

Joanie Jeanette is the chief executive officer at Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
