To the editor:
I cannot thank Citizen Editor Mel Toadvine enough for the article bringing to attention Jennifer Dube's medical issues and the nightmare that the insurance company and county hospitals have made her endure.
My fiance has been suffering from the same condition for over two years now. He has had every GI test all with no diagnosis, just the doctors scratching their heads. He was told that the next test would have to be in Tampa but they were booked for almost a year. When you are severely malnourished and dehydrated due to constant vomiting, the crushing news that no one can help you might as well have been a death sentence.
Then our insurance was cancelled because I was out of work for three months because of a broken wrist.
It is a horrible thing to watch someone you love suffer physically so much on a daily basis, and then have the feeling of helplessness because of lack of insurance and the cost of medical care.
Please pass on to Jennifer and her family, "You aren't alone in this. All of the positivity and healing thoughts I have are going your way."
We have also had more success with alternative medicine. He is not healed but he at least has some hope.
