LRMC now part of the largest hospital company in country

February 19, 2014
By JOANIE JEANNETTE , Lehigh Acres Citizen

It has been a very exciting time for Lehigh Regional Medical Center as the merger between Community Health Systems and Health Management Associates has been completed, forming the largest hospital company in the nation as measured by number of hospital facilities. We are now part of a network of 206 affiliated hospitals in 29 states.

Because our leadership team, medical staff, employees and hospital name will remain the same, the impact of this merger may not be immediately evident in our hospital or community.

But, becoming part of the CHS organization helps position Lehigh Regional to better navigate the dynamic realities that challenge all healthcare providers.

Our hospital will benefit from access to an even wider network of resources, best practices and shared expertise.

CHS has a proven track record of effectively integrating newly affiliated hospitals, so we expect a successful experience.

There will not be any local changes as a result of this merger.

Lehigh Regional Medical Center will continue to operate the same name at this time. Most importantly, the community will continue to receive the high-quality care they have come to expect from the nurses, physicians and employees they already know and trust.

Thank you for all you do to support our hospital each day. We are very proud of the care we provide to Lehigh are surrounding areas and we want everyone to also be proud of their facility. We are dedicated to your good health.

Joanie Jeannette is the chief executive officer for Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
