During January, contractors pulled 77 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at nearly $17 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 64 permits issued in December and 54 issued in January 2013, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.
Also during January, 20 multi-family units were permitted, compared to 14 in December and eight in January 2013.
General commercial activity was valued at more than $2.9 million for 20 permits. In comparison, commercial permits were valued at nearly $1 million in December and $2.5 million in January 2013.
Lee County Community Development issued 3,270 permits of all kinds during January.
