Pageants, cook off and horseshoe tournament among festival’s lineup

This year's Spring Festival, Lehigh's Southern Fried Festival, will take place March 14-22. On March 16, the Baby/Toddler, Prince/Princess and Junior Miss/Queen Pageants will be held.

The Junior Miss and Queen Pageant's deadline is drawing near so potential contestants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.

The Junior Miss age group includes girls aged 9-13 and the Queen age group includes girls aged 14-18 as of March 2014.

The entry fee for the Junior Miss/Queen Pageant is $30. If contestants enter the optional talent portion, there is an extra $20 fee.

The Spring Festival BBQ Cook Off is looking for local amateur pigmasters to participate on March 15. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the contest tent, with the cooking to begin at 10 a.m.

The entry fee is $25 for either BBQ chicken or BBQ pork ribs, or $50 for both.

The Spring Festival annual Horseshoe Tournament is looking for two-man teams. Signups will take place March 14-16, with play beginning March 16.

This is a double elimination tournament , must win 2 out of 3 to stay in. The first and second place winning team will be awarded a cash prize out of a $1,000 prize fund, with special prizes to be announced.

Entry fee is $50 per team.

The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show will hold multiple performances on March 22.

This year marks 33 years with their lumberjack show in the family entertainment industry. It features log rolling, log rolling dogs, chopping, sawing, axe throwing, dragster chainsaw and tree climbing.

Their show is historical, educational and humorous, plus it is filled with audience participation.
