Childhood education conference scheduled

Child Care of Southwest Florida invites early childhood educators and caregivers to Circles of Care, a conference designed to inform and inspire those who work with children from infancy to elementary.

The 19th annual conference will be held April 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Edison State College in Fort Myers.

Presentations, age-specific workshops, hands-on experiences and exhibits will provide information and resources to teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, family-care providers and parents.

Keynote speaker Ron Mohl will share teaching methods with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and math).

Up to .65 continuing education credits will be available.

Advance cost is $40 per person; admission at the door is $55.

General Woman's Club to award scholarships

The General Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres will award $500 scholarships to single parents with minor children living at home.

The applicant must be enrolled in continuing education classes at an accredited college, university or technical school, and they must be a resident of Lehigh Acres.

There is no pre-printed application form; mail the following to Mrs. Diane A. Lashua, Scholarship Chairman, 123 Sebring Circle, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936:

- Proof of Lehigh residence, like a utility bill or rent receipt

- Supply street address and contact telephone number (P.O Boxes will be not accepted)

- Name of college, university or technical school enrolled in

- Brief biography that includes area of study

Deadline to apply is April 20.

Awards will be issued May 16.

Domino Club taking applications

The Lehigh Cavaliers Domino Club is offering $500 scholarships to Lehigh Acres students for the 2014 academic year.

Scholarship applicants must submit the following information no later than April 30:

- Proof of Lehigh residency

- High school of graduation and academic standing

- School of continuing education (letter of acceptance)

- Brief biography, including an essay of intended degree of study

Mail applications to Mr. Oliver DeWeever, Scholarship Chairman, Lehigh Cavaliers Domino Club, P.O. Box 1056, Lehigh Acres, FL 33970.

Awards will be decided May 30; the recipients will be notified within seven days thereafter.

Scholarships available

The Lehigh Regional Hospital Auxiliary is giving scholarships to Lehigh residents age 18 or older.

The scholarships go toward medical education.

Applications may be obtained at the front desk at the lobby of the Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
