The 23rd Annual Charleston Park Day is set for Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the community on SR80, just outside Lehigh Acres.
Alice Washington, planner of the event, said there will be food for all including barbecue chicken and ribs and a variety of vegetables with their famous sweet potato pie.
Food tickets are $7 per adult from 12 and up and $5 for children between 5 and 11. Two adults and three children can buy a food ticket for $20.
Washington said there will be the legendary annual march throughout the housing development that once was a haven for drug dealers. She said thanks to the people in the neighborhoods and the leadership of some, the drug problem was brought to an end. She also praised the Lee County Sheriff's Office for their help.
Now for more than 20 years, Washington said the community celebrates the event.
Residents, children, cars and trucks all take part in the parade which leads to the main outside covered court, built some years ago by the county for sporting events and other community get-togethers.
