Lee County presents Fair Housing Summit

A Fair Housing Summit will be held today, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dr. Carrie Robinson Center, at 2990 Edison Ave. in Fort Myers.

The event is free to the public.

It will include information on the Fair Housing Act, reasonable accommodations in rules and policies, emotional support animals, special parking requests, fair housing rights of persons with disabilities under the Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, and a discussion of the difference between laws and respective accessibility standards.

Made in SWFL set for Harborside Event

The Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association will host Made in SWFL today, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harborside Event Center, at 1375 Monroe St., Fort Myers.

The event is an opportunity to connect and network with local manufacturers. It will feature presentations from manufacturing leaders, a trade show and the presentation of the 2013 Manufacturer of the Year awards.

The agenda also includes workshops on tax topics such as foreign sales; R&D tax credits; tax savings for capital investment, purchases and renovations; and consulting and investing advice for closely held businesses. An educational section on grants will be offered.

Local STEM students can attend an interactive presentation from 9:30 a.m. to noon, with a reservation. From noon to 5 p.m., the public is invited to attend the showcase.

Admission is free with a business card, and $5 without.

New yoga studio announces free classes

Namaste Flow Yoga, at 904 Lee Blvd., Unit 104, is a new yoga studio. It will offer a free yoga class every Saturday in April.

The class is great for beginners. Students can come and find that it relieves stress, improves circulation, lubricants the joints, increases strength/endurance and eases pain.

CROW to receive environmental funding

LCEC is accepting applications from organizations for an environmental funding award.

The deadline for the 2014 applications is Sept. 1.

Organizations must meet certain criteria to be considered for the award including being located within LCEC service territory, funding utilized for projects/programs related to the environment and the utility industry and having a demonstrated need for funds.
