Public asked to ID robbery suspect

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is continuing an investigation today into the robbery of the Dollar General store at 701 Gretchen Avenue S. in Lehigh Acres that occurred on Sunday, May 4 at around 9:34 p.m. They are asking for help from the public in the identification of a suspect.

A spokesman with the Sheriff's Office said a man is wanted for an armed robbery of the store.

According to investigators, the suspect came into the store with a black handgun and demanded money from the cash drawer.

The clerk complied handing the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.

Investigators said the suspect then fled the area on foot without information as what direction he may have ran.

The suspect is described as a black male, six foot tall, thin build, black hair in dreads, wearing a tan shirt with red stripes, black pants, white tennis shoes, blue jacket with a hood, ski mask, and carrying a red bag in his hands.

Police are hoping someone may have information about this robbery.
