Two injured in Fort Myers crash

July 30, 2014
Lehigh Acres Citizen

On July 26, Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash with serious injury in the intersection of Gladiolus Drive and Winkler Road in Fort Myers.

Due to the nature of the call, Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit investigators responded to the scene.

During the course of the investigation, deputies determined that a 2014 Kia, driven by Paul Lafleuer of Fort Myers, was traveling west on Gladiolus Drive. The Kia entered a left turn lane at Winker Road and then proceeded to make a left turn on a red arrow.

The Kia was struck by a 1999 Mercury, driven by Latonya Moore of Lehigh Acres, who was traveling east on Gladiolus. Both drivers were transported to area hospitals.

Due to the serious, life threatening injuries sustained by Lafleuer, a preliminary traffic homicide investigation was conducted.

The preliminary investigation determined that speed or alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
