Thomas Pfuner, well-known developer and businessman in Lehigh Acres, and a member of the Architectural Board of the Lehigh Community Council, is all smiles today after his daughter, Selina Pfuner of Lehigh and her friend, Erin Post of Pine Island, two local high school freshmen, won the Florida State Championships title in the U14 (14 years old and under) division in a beach volleyball tournament organized by the Florida Beach Volleyball Tour.

The tourney was held in Ft. Lauderdale, next to the Yankee Clipper Sheraton hotel on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, Thomas Pfuner said.

The two girls prevailed over the other teams in their division undefeated during the course of the tournament on Sunday which lasted from 7:30 a.m. with registration and check-in all the way to 7 p.m. when the awards ceremony was held, he said.

Beach volleyball is played by two men and/or women and this was Pfuner's and Post's only fourth tournament playing together as a team. Of those four tournaments they participated in, they were able to win three, Thomas Pfuner said. The tournament was held Aug. 10.
